Suspect Identified in Venice Boardwalk Hit and Run That Killed One


Tragic news: A driver of what witnesses described as a dark colored sedan drove into a crowd of people on the Venice Boardwalk just after 6 p.m. Saturday, injuring at least eleven people and killing one, a woman who was on her honeymoon the LAPD confirmed.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey told reporters one person was critically injured in the accident, while two more suffered serious injuries and a total of ten people accepted transportation to nearby hospitals. Video of the incident shows the car striking at least three vendors.

The driver fled the scene but reports surfaced Saturday night that a man believed to be involved in the accident had turned himself in to area police. This morning law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Nathan Campbell. The 38-year-old man is being held on $1 million bail and is expected to be charged with murder.
