See the Thrilling View from L.A.’s Most Adrenaline-Filled Instagram Feed

Documenting the angles most of us never see

Scott Reyes isn’t a fan of heights. You might find that hard to believe, judging by the vertiginous vantage points that fill the 26-year-old photographer’s Instagram account, @4thandspring. His pictures range from skyline views snapped atop access-restricted rooftops to pulse-pounding shots of an oncoming Red Line train. Armed with an iPhone and (we imagine) a lot of adrenaline, Reyes seeks out urban adventures—which often involve scaling fire escapes and ducking security guards—to illuminate a side of downtown most people never see. His goal is to document a city core that’s transforming at warp speed: “I want people 100 years from now to see what it was like here during our time.”
