The Rose Parade Is Coming Back for New Year’s 2022

Another sign of life bouncing back post-pandemic

A beloved tradition is coming back. After taking 2021 off due to the pandemic (the first year skipped since World War II), you can officially mark your calendar for the Rose Parade in 2022.

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association has told the Los Angeles Times that the show will return on New Year’s Day of 2022. Details of exactly how it will come together, however, remain somewhat up in the air.

In normal years, teams start construction for the January event as early as March. The association’s executive director, David Eads, told the Times that process still cannot begin, but that he expects that work will be underway and additional plans confirmed by “mid-summer.”

“We feel confident with moving forward,” Eads said, though he acknowledged that the 2022 event “could look different from a traditional Rose Parade.”
