Postscript: Plastic Patrol

This month, Megan Kilroy, who shared her ritual of working to keep Santa Monica beaches clean and safe for wildlife in the July 2010 cover story on L.A.’s Best Beaches, will receive $36,000 for her work as a young environmentalist. The recipient of the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award, Megan has been selected for exemplifying the values of tikkun olam (a Hebrew phrase that means repairing the world), and serving as a role model for others. We’re thrilled she’s being recognized—and just when we were giving up our dream of finding money on the beach, too.
