You Can’t Eat the Sunshine is a weekly podcast series produced by Kim Cooper and Richard Schave in which the Esotouric founders talk with L.A. personalities about the city’s myths, contradictions, and inspirations.
This week, Kim and Richard mull over the macabre with Cathee Shultz, who with runs the Museum of Death in Hollywood alongside her husband, J.D. Healy. “I like to show people the embalming video,” she says of her operation. “There’s a great part where the embalmer is sopping up all the blood and juices on the table with this towlette, and he sticks it one of the orifices of the body. ‘Oh I don’t need this anymore, it’s trash! I’ll just stick it in the body!'”
In this exclusive clip, the duo also talk with tile expert Brian Kaiser about a fascinating commission at the corner of 2nd & Alameda Streets in the Arts District. Listen on to learn more…
