Podcast Preview: How Dirt Sculptures Helped Save the Southwest Museum

You Can’t Eat the Sunshine is a weekly podcast series produced by Kim Cooper and Richard Schave in which the Esotouric founders talk with L.A. personalities about the city’s myths, contradictions, and inspirations.

This week, Kim and Richard shoot the breeze with Dan Lewis, Chief Curator of Manuscripts at the Huntington Library, to discuss a new permanent installation called Remarkable Works, Remarkable Times. Lewis calls the installation a visual representation of the card catalog (yes, those still exist). They also share the inside scoop on a new gift shop in Monrovia called “Get Your Kicks On Route 66.”

In this exclusive clip, Richard and Kim chat up an artist named Justin, who in his youth stumbled upon an effort to save the Southwest Museum of the American Indian and has never looked back.
