College admissions scandal dad and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli is scheduled to report to a low-security prison in Santa Barbara County on Thursday to begin serving a five-month sentence for forking over $500,000 to get his daughters into USC. Earlier this week, he debuted a new look for the occasion. In photos published by TMZ, Giannulli was spotted in Beverly Hills with a closely cropped buzz cut and a nearly all-white beard.
“He’s trying to simplify everything,” says a legal source close to Giannulli told People magazine. “Prison life is going to be hard enough for him; he might as well just take any hair worries out of the equation.”
In May, Giannulli pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud for his role in the college admission scandal, while his actress wife Lori Loughlin pleaded guilty to one count of fraud. Loughlin is currently serving a two-month sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution, Dublin in the Bay Area. Despite some unusual inmate perks like weekend brunches, music lessons, and pilates classes, Loughlin was reportedly “a little weepy” when she first reported on October 30, but has since established a routine and adjusted.
A source told People, “She has not had any specific problems. No one has tried any shit with her. No one is bullying her. The guards aren’t treating her any differently than other inmates.”
Loughlin is expected to be released around Christmastime, while Giannulli will be reunited with his family—including daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose—around Easter.
