» State lawmakers are trying to make it easier for developers to turn vacant retail space into housing. State Senator Anthony Portantino of Los Angeles has also proposed paying local governments to change zoning from commercial to residential so affordable housing can go in. [KTLA]

» Law enforcement has yet to arrest a suspect in the murder of six-year-old Aiden Leos, who was shot during a road rage incident on May 21. The reward to catch the shooter—who police say drives a white Volkswagen Golf SportWagen—has reached $400,000. [ABC 7]
