» An 18-year-old woman who was shot in the head by a Long Beach Unified school safety officer, which left her brain dead, is expected to be taken off life support on Friday, her family’s lawyer said. Mona Rodriguez has been on life support since the tragic incident on Monday in which she was fleeing in a car, along with her 20-year-old boyfriend and a 16-year-old boy, when the safety officer shot at the moving vehicle. » Just a year ago during the COVID lockdown Los Angeles saw its lowest gas prices in recent years, but on Thursday, gas prices reached their highest level of the year as earthquake-related problems continue to keep costs up, according to AAA. The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the L.A.-Long Beach area reached $4.41 this week, which is a cent higher than the previous week, but still remains about 30 cents less than their all-time record levels.
