Last night, Melissa Etheridge played to a nearly sold-out crowd at the Orpheum downtown, and between travel-themed hits like “I Want to Come Over” and “Come to My Window,” the Grammy winner talked quite a lot, and a lot about Los Angeles.
“Why is it,” she asked during one of her longer rambles, “that sometimes the 101 is east/west and sometimes it’s north/south? I don’t know. … You have to leave the Valley at 4 to get here at 7. Thank you for coming and finding parking.”
It wasn’t all minor complaints. At one point Etheridge listed off some of the personal goals she has had since overcoming breast cancer six years ago. Near the end of her list? “I haven’t lived in the Palisades.”
