The magazine threw our annual Food Event (the 4th for those counting) on the huuuuuge sunny lawn of Saddlerock Ranch (home to Malibu Family Wines). Once you drove in past the buffalos, zebras, llamas and other assorted exotic animals that call the Ranch home, there was a feast and more celeb chefs than you could flick a spoonful of truffled mac and cheese at. First table up? Chef Eric Greenspan of The Foundry on Melrose serving a grilled cheese thingy on was that raisin bread? – to his right – Petrossian if you needed a taste of salmon and blinis. By the time you got to Little Dom’s butternut squash fritter on the back lawn past the demo area you were stuffed. Lots ‘o’ meat. Demos by Andrew Kirschner (Wilshire Restaurant), David Myers (Comme Ça/Sonoma), Ludo Lefebvre (Ludobites), Suzanne Tracht (Jar) and John Sedlar (Rivera). Chats with Top Chef contestants Betty Fraser, Chris “CJ” Jacobsen and Fabio Viviani. Everyone brought out their best wines and dishes and generous portions of each. A great time. Stop by next year. Ticket sales benefited The American Heart Association and the Kids Courage Foundation.
