What happened to the famous school in the Valley for movie and TV animals?

From the 1930s until last fall, movie mutts, crime-fighting K-9s, and pampered poodles honed their skills at the Hollywood Dog Training School on Vanowen Street in North Hollywood. The kennels were first built by Lassie’s trainer, Rudd Weatherwax, and then sold to Toto’s trainer, Carl Spitz, in the 1950s.

The current owners moved the operation to Acton and sold the one-acre lot to the self-storage facility next door. I guess these days man’s best friend is his stuff.
