Today, National Puppy Day, is the perfect time to thank the pup in your life for being the best Instagram fodder/pick-up line (and for their unconditional love). It is also a good time to recall that, while talented in a multitude of other ways, dogs are not great at using toilets.
On March 19, the Silver Lake Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners approved new signage for the Silver Lake Dog Park that attempts to put a fun, whimsical spin on the otherwise unpleasant task of handling feces. A public contest held by the office of Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell (District 13) was announced last summer, and a dozen entries were narrowed down to five winners. The artists—one of which hails from Moscow—drew upon a variety of inspirations, including Rosie the Riveter and the Cole Porter song “Let’s Do It.” No word yet on when the new signs will be installed.
