Griffith Park Has a New George Harrison Memorial Tree

The Beatle’s lost pine has been reincarnated (sort of)

Seven months after the Canary Island pine planted in 2002 near Griffith Observatory in honor of George Harrison was destroyed by a swarm of irony-loving beetles, a Yew pine has been planted in its spot. Today would have been the Quiet Beatle’s 72nd birthday, and a cake-cutting event at the Hollywood Walk of Fame is scheduled to follow the replanting in Griffith Park for the occasion.
