Move over, roller bags. Backpacks are officially back in at L.A. schools thanks to the new Give Will Foundation, which was created by Will Leather Goods and is bringing the classic carryall back to class.
After making a donation of three hundred backpacks to Westminster Avenue Elementary School in Venice, California, this month, the foundation announced a goal to donate more than 10,000 bags to schools in need around the country over the next five years. The exclusive wax-coated bags thought up by Will Leather Goods president Will Adler are designed to be customized; each pack has a spot where children can write down their dreams.
In a speech during the November 1st donation, Adler shared that he had big dreams himself when he opened his first small leather shop, a stand on the Venice Boardwalk, called “Billy’s Belts.” He says that without perseverance he never would have been able to build Will Leather Goods into the company it is today. He invited students onstage to share their dreams and write them on their new bags.
To help raise funds, Will Leather Goods has announced that 10% of all sales will go to the Give Will Foundation and help provide backpacks at other elementary schools.
The bags are adorable, the cause is fantastic. We give this trend an A+.
