Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village Stands Up Against Breast Cancer

Would you like a mammogram with that mocktini?

One doesn’t typically associate mammograms with luxury hotels, but that’s about to change: thanks to Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, you can bypass the sterility of your doctor’s office and head straight for the California Health and Longevity Institute (CHLI, located on the hotel grounds) for a mammogram with state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment.

The program, created in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, came about in an organic way. “A few years ago, we had groups of women who came through with their girlfriends to have their mammograms and then go to the spa,” says Becky Leehey, Executive Director of the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village and California Health & Longevity Institute. “They made a day of pampering themselves and having mammograms. It was from that that we thought, hey, wouldn’t that be a great experience?”

Canadian actress Jillian Barberie was also instrumental in getting the program off the ground after visiting two years ago. “She came in, had her mammogram, and then made a comment about it on Twitter. The phones rang off the hook after that,” Leehey said. If CHLI accepts your insurance plan, the scan is free. If not, you’ll only have to fork over $75—not bad considering some private imaging facilities can charge much more.

The Four Seasons is also offering a special “Think Pink Pampering” package in the name of post-mammo R&R: $130 gets you a 50-minute massage and a Pink Lady mocktini (the massage alone usually runs for $155). For Leehey, any incentive that gets women into the CHLI is worthwhile. “We want people to come in for the screening because catching it early is key,” she said.

The Think Pink Pampering package is available Monday through Friday through October 31st. For more information on the Four Seasons and CHLI program, visit the hotel website.
