A Walker in L.A.: Heels on Wheels

Is it cheating to talk about biking for a change?

Okay, I’ll admit it: Sometimes this L.A. walker is actually an L.A. biker. And this is the time of year—as the days grow longer, and the temperatures get higher—I tend to trade my two feet for two wheels more often. Allowing you to travel at speeds slightly faster than walking, biking reveals another magical layer to the city. May is National Bike Month and L.A. celebrates with a week’s worth of programming May 12 to 18, including Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 15. Now is the perfect time to get your gears in gear: Give your bike a tune-up and take a test run on the weekend. In a few weeks, you’ll be ready to give riding to work a try. I’ll see you out there.
