Monster Jam April 29, SoFi Stadium

Monster trucks exist in part to perpetuate the thoroughly American performance art perfected at Monster Jam, which rolls into SoFi Stadium this weekend. Expect plenty of action from the 12,000-pound vehicles, including vaulting off ramps and other gravity-defying stunts. [More info]

Pizza City Fest April 29 – 30, L.A. Live

Pizza City Festival is a celebration of all things dough and cheese (and tomatoes, sausages, and pepperoni…) where Southern Cali’s top pizza joints share their wares, hot from the oven. [More info]

Josh Lockman: The Disappearance of a Disappearance April 29, Sunset Blvd.

In this exhibition, Josh Lockman explores the “disappearance of a disappearance” phenomenon, which he describes as something that feels “uniquely modern.” Lockman contends that in contemporary society we have forfeited the right to simply go off the grid, unbothered—a prospect both intriguing and terrifying in the age of always-on connectivity.  [More info]

Bob Baker Day April 30, Los Angeles State Historic Park

It’s been nine years since iconic puppeteer Bob Baker passed. But his memory lives on at the Marionette Theater as well as this annual festival at L.A. State Historic Park. On Sunday, Angelenos will gather there to celebrate all things Baker and take in multiple marionette performances in his honor. [More info]
