I love cartoons and I love weird cars so it was a treat to see a story about the 1969 Panthermobile auction
over on Cartoon Brew
today. Check this baby out. Jay Ohrberg
, whose Burbank customizing studio has fabricated an army of insane vehicles for movies, TV and rich eccentrics since the ‘60s, designed the swoopy, sporty car. Apparently, it was designed for exactly one ride through the opening sequence of the syndicated Pink Panther
show on NBC. Click here
to see an underage driver deliver the panther and Inspector Clouseau to Hollywood Boulevard. The opening bid is £50,000, so I’m guessing it will go for a bit more than this Corgi version
but maybe not as much as James Bond’s Aston Martin
, which fetched $4.6 million last fall. I wonder if the Panthermobile would deliver a pink oil slick?
