Which are the oldest man-made items that originated in L.A.? Which is the oldest mosaic?

I’m stunned and honored to get these questions all the way from a fan in Syria. Even more shocking is that they came on a postcard with stamps! The oldest items, according to archaeologist Roberta Greenwood, are tools and weapons made more than 10,000 years ago and discovered in the La Brea Tar Pits. Architect and archaeologist William W. Ellinger III believes the oldest local mosaic is on the fireplace in the Moorish room of the 113-year-old Castle Green, the Pasadena hotel that went co-op in 1924.
