Video Village With Ask Chris: For Sale: Jim Morrison’s Doors (Literally)

737

It’s been nearly fifty years since Jim Morrison transferred to UCLA film school, went all beatnik at Venice beach and started The Doors. Somewhere between meeting Ray Manzarek on the sand and dying in a Paris bathtub Morrison reportedly lived in a West Hollywood apartment with his girlfriend Pamela Courson. There, they presumably flipped the wall switches, stared into the bathroom mirror and sat upon the bathroom throne. Now, through the magic of demolition, these items can now be yours.  Artifacts from the Norton Avenue building are currently listed on Craig’s List.  Three doors (of course) for between $15 and 40; towel hooks; switchplates and the kitchen sink strainer are all priced at under $10. That same sawbuck will also get you a tour of the six-unit complex. While you’re contemplating the purchase of the lizard king’s thousand dollar commode, enjoy this clip from KTLA’s dance show Shebang, hosted by Casey Kasem.   Photo: Karl-Ludwig Poggemann
