I dropped by Grand Park after the sun went down on Sunday to celebrate inauguration day. I didn’t see the new mayor, but I imagine Mr. Garcetti found someplace with air conditioning after a sunny swearing-in on the Spring Street steps of City Hall. After the ceremony there was plenty of music, food and fun in Grand Park. The most bizarre offering was a booth where you could see Garcetti’s face superimposed on your own. The eyes moved, the lips moved, and I didn’t even have to wear the ping-pong ball suit. Our new mayor is so high tech!
