Every Thursday evening for the last 90 years, the gentlemen of the Los Angeles Adventurers’ Club have gathered to trade tales of risky behavior. I met treasure hunter Roy Roush recently and when he invited me to come down and pay them a visit I jumped at the opportunity. I joined the fellows (and it’s all fellows unless you attend the monthly ladies night) at their Lincoln Heights clubhouse and sat awestruck at their exploits. Questions like “Who has visited Titanic?” or “Who has climbed Kilimanjaro?” were casually tossed out and the members responded enthusiastically. Portraits of past presidents like Cecil B. DeMille, Will Rogers and Buddy Ebsen line the walls, which are like the pages of National Geographic come to life. Enjoy this photo tour.
