Los Angeles architectural legend Richard Neutra started his practice in 1926 and it’s still going strong with his son Dion at the helm. Architecture fans can look forward to an entire weekend of clean lines, steel windows and modernist dogma. The “Neutra Practice at 85” extravaganza starts on Friday with dinner and a movie at the 1953 Eagle Rock Recreation Center, Saturday offers tours of Neutra’s own home, the VDL House in Silver Lake, the Lovell Health House (featured in L.A. Confidential) a symposium with the children of famous architects and a reunion of owners, clients and builders with an auction of drawings. Sunday is a special bootie-wearing tour of original interiors. You’ve used the font, sat in his chair and marveled at Julius Shulman’s photos, now go inside and see it in real life and three dimensions all this weekend.
