Kevin Smith Sells Out

Boy, you know the movie business has changed when award-winning filmmakers like Kevin Smith have to resort to a garage sale to finance their films. This weekend, the creator of Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy will auction off costumes, props and artwork from his movies to help finance his new teen religious horror picture Red State. The auction, held at the Pasadena Convention Center will feature Ben Affleck’s “Heavily distressed” angel wings from Dogma, a hobo blanket used by George Carlin in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and a creature described as a “Golgothan poop monster.” Hmm, maybe Smith made the right decision thinning down the collection.
