Is it true Rapid Buses can control traffic lights? I’d heard that, but I seem to catch just as many red lights when I follow them as when I don’t.

The wireless transponders on those Rapid Buses can nudge a green light to last longer or reduce the wait at a red light by several seconds. One of the drawbacks of tailgating a public transportation vehicle as tall as a tractor trailer is that you don’t get a good view of the approaching signal. Next time, leave the car at home, pay your fare, get a front-row seat behind the Rapid driver, and look for yourself.
