We wish Los Angeles TV legend Tom Hatten a happy birthday today. Hatten was hired by KTLA director Klaus Landbsberg in 1952 and created the Popeye show, which ran off and on into the 1990s. He has had a long stage career, and recently hosted an entertainment program on KNX. Today, he is introducing classic films on Cityview Channel 35. His Family Film Festival on KTLA predates TCM or even AMC, and inspired my love of old movies. I included his sailor’s cap as item #148 in my DispL.A. Case feature. Tom is an all-around great guy, a Los Angeles treasure, and a wonderful friend. Here we are visiting the Wigwam Village on Route 66 where he and I put on a show together. Happy birthday, Tom!
