Glendale’s Red Car Trolleys

Los Angeles once had the largest interurban railway system in the world. If you believe conspiracy theories or Who Framed Roger Rabbit, automakers and freeway builders wiped it out in the 1950s. The last cars stopped running decades ago, but there is still such affection for the old red cars. Next Thursday, join historian Paul Ayers for a free slideshow on the history of the cars that traveled between downtown and Glendale. He’s also traced the routes as they appear today, so you can ring a bell and pretend your bicycle is a big trolley car.
