Get Inside Six of L.A.’s Most Magnificent Old Movie Palaces

If you’re reading this blog, chances are you already know about the incredible collection of movie palaces downtown on Broadway. Perhaps you’ve gone inside during the Los Angeles Conservancy’s Last Remaining Seats summer film series, or perhaps gone salsa dancing at the Mayan, or maybe you did some shopping at Urban Outfitters in the shell of the old Rialto Theater. Well hang on to your popcorn, because six of the theaters will be open this Saturday for the first time in decades. Bringing Back Broadway is hosting “A Day On Broadway,” a day full of tours, lectures, and fun times in cool places. Councilman Jose Huizar’s effort to resurrect the grand old street is celebrating its sixth birthday at the Palace, Million Dollar, Tower, Orpheum, Globe, and the Los Angeles Theater. There’s also a craft beer class, walking tours, and a scavenger hunt. If you linger too long at the beer tasting, make a night of it and stay at the Ace Hotel housed in the old United Artists Theater building. Broadway, take a bow.
