Do you know the history of the Boat House on Hyperion in Silver Lake?

Its name is Grace. The two-story ship-shaped building, at the corner of Tracy, has been sailing toward the western sunset since 1941. For decades it was a recording studio for Haven of Rest Ministries, including a Christian quartet called the Crew of the Good Ship Grace. The singers wore captain’s hats and nautical uniforms. In 1998, music producers Mike (E.Z. Mike) Simpson and John (King Gizmo) King, aka the Dust Brothers, bought the building. They modernized the studio and attracted some less restrained artists, including Garbage, Tenacious D, and Marilyn Manson.
