Ask Chris’s Tour Guide Book Binge: The Ultimate Hollywood Tour Book

Published by a tiny press near Palm Springs, this bare bones volume is more of a light graze than a full banquet, but it still takes you to the expected hot spots (Musso and Frank, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel) as some completely bizarre places like the slaughterhouse where Rocky punched sides of beef, and the Hollywood apartment of assassin James Earl Ray. It’s mostly full of anonymous places where historic (and usually bad) things happened, and celebrity homes that won’t look like much more than a hedge from the street. On the other hand, I will most definitely pick up any book with a tour entry like “One-time Mama Cass/Ringo Starr/Dan Aykroyd Haunted House.”
