Ask Chris: Is it True There Is a Secret Waterfall by the Nosebleed Seats at the Hollywood Bowl?

Our in-house historian has the answer

If you hike up to the second promenade near section F3, you can see the 13-foot-tall cascade made with stones from around the Bowl. Grounds supervisor Bob Ginn finished the water feature (which is turned off during performances) in 2000 as a tribute to Danny Mata, a 42-year-old groundskeeper who died of heart failure before completing it. Ginn also relandscaped the Highland Avenue off-ramp of the 101 freeway to spell out “Welcome to Hollywood” in white marble. Some people are really serious about their jobs.
