All Aboard! Vintage L.A. Streetcar Art

Steve Crise is an expert on L.A.’s old streetcar systems. He recently wrote two “then and now” books about the vintage trains and spends a lot of time at the Orange Empire Railway Museum photographing the original red and yellow cars. He recently gathered up 55 of the original “dash” signs that once hung on the front of the trolleys and created this gorgeous poster. I love that there was a special line to the Cawston Ostrich Farm in South Pasadena, and a route that ended at Urbita Springs, a natural hot spring in San Bernardino that became an early amusement park, and eventually a 70’s mall. Crise sells the art on eBay and some proceeds from the sale goes to the Pacific Electric Railway Historical Society.
