Take-Out Tip of the Day: Schmaltz, Pantry Staples, and Jiggling Pie from Birdie G’s

A daily helping of dinner ideas when you can only dine in

The Rustic Canyon Family, which includes some of the city’s top spots like Cassia and Birdie G’s, announced a slew of new delivery, take-out, and curbside-pickup options. (Its namesake restaurant, Rustic Canyon, has closed temporarily.)

Highlights include Birdie G’s gorgeous, jiggling “World Famous” Rose Petal Pie and amazingly comforting matzo ball soup; flavorful Laksa from Cassia, assorted breads from Milo & Olive; and a haute grilled cheese and wine from Ester’s Wine Shop & Bar. For those cooking to cope, Birdie G’s is also offering an array of pantry items, from schmaltz to Persian spice mix to parmesan-garlic bread crumbs. (Rachel Sheridan, the wife of Birdie G’s chef and co-owner Jeremy Fox, also runs the @virtualcookingclub Instagram, which is a great follow.)

“We’ve had to make a lot of swift decisions over the past couple of days, and we’re doing everything we can to take care of our beloved employees, while also finding creative ways to keep feeding all of you delicious, comforting food when you need it most,” the restaurant group said in a letter to customers.
