Ración juts out from among Pasadena’s sea of corporate food halls like the Iberian Peninsula. Partners Loretta Peng and Teresa Montaño, who met while launching the food truck for Border Grill, declare their love for the flavors of the Basque region with a collection of what one could loosely call tapas and pintxos, ranging from lamb meatballs over licorice greens to baby squid stuffed with duck sausage in a spicy brava sauce. A few golden salt cod fritters at the front bar with a chilly glass of verdejo befits Tuesday nights. The cozy tables beckon on Saturdays, when couples huddle over butter-poached langoustines with a bottle of smoky tinto fino
