One could credit the success of L&E Oyster Bar to the law of supply and demand. Silver Lake residents demanded romantic streetside-patio seating, premium shellfish, and sparkling wine, and budding restaurateur Dustin Lancaster supplied it. Is there a moment when one wouldn’t want to waltz to the upstairs bar for the “daily dozen”—maybe a mix of Naked Cowboys, Hama Hamas, and Kumamotos—and a glass of bubbly? Of course that would be overlooking the true talents of chef Spencer Bezaire, who knows that chorizo-smeared toast is the ideal vehicle for smoked mussels and that sometimes Dungeness crab begs for a serious dose of Louie dressing.
