Thomas Keller’s French Laundry was tractor-beaming visitors into Yountville long before he opened Bouchon and Ad Hoc close by. Now there are hotels in town to match the caliber of the food. Built with salvaged redwood and cypress, powered by solar panels, and embellished with mod touches, Bardessono is about as eco-chic as you can get (down to its platinum LEED certification). The new Hotel Yountville aspires to a more French-farmhouse vibe. The property’s Hopper Creek Kitchen whips up a creamy breakfast risotto with strawberries, mint, vanilla, and lemon zest that tastes best by the fireplace. Later pedal one of the hotel’s bikes downtown for a flight at Ma(i)sonry, an intimate winery collective and art gallery. Before returning home, sample another type of gastronomy: grilled fish tacos topped with cabbage and tangy dressing at Tacos Garcia, a taco truck in the parking lot of the dive bar Pancha’s. Keller himself is a fan.
