Bait And Switch: MacArthur Park Lake Holds More Than Just Fish
Last time we checked, socks belong in drawers (not lakes)
The fancy fishing rod was seven feet, eleven inches long.
Armed with steely reserve and a fiberglass implement, Steven Banks set out to catch (well—to try to catch) one or two bass in MacArthur Park Lake on Memorial Day. Our hardworking design director managed to squeeze in a few hours of reel time while cranking out our July cover story on Crime in L.A., which includes a piece on said park. Unfortunately the fish weren’t biting. “I did catch a tube sock,” says Banks. “It wasn’t exactly fresh.”
