The Chocolate Invitational Was Literally A Total Wash-Out

This Saturday, another LAmag-er (Raquel Pena) and I met up as our calendars had a circle around them for The Chocolate Invitational in Malibu. Sounded like the perfect event to cover for our Digest blog. It was raining, a bit, but we set out on the nearly 35-mile drive from our Los Feliz and Glendale pads to what promised to be a chocolate extravaganza at a ranch along Mulholland Drive. The rain got worse, the rocks on the hillsides starting tumbling (we barely escaped a few), and visibility neared zero as we chugged, chugged, chugged along the steep, winding road in my hoop-dee.

Long story (and longer drive) short, we received an email that the Invitational had been cancelled after we reached—and promptly left—the deserted ranch.

So it was boat drinks at Bob Morris's Beach Café. I've heard of taking lemons and making lemonade, but never taking soggy chocolate and making pina coladas.
