Celebrated guitarist-composer Bill Frisell and award-winning filmmaker Bill Morrison have crafted a highly personal and illuminating musical vision, inviting us on a journey of discovery around the devastation wrought by the Mississippi River Flood of 1927. The natural disaster had a far-reaching effect on the history and progression of musical forms in this country, when the post-flood area experienced a mass exodus of displaced sharecroppers. What became known as the “Great Migration” of rural Southern blacks to Northern cities saw the Delta Blues electrified and reinterpreted as the Chicago Blues, R&B, and Rock & Roll. More Information.
