Rodarte cuts a swath
through east L.A.

Models dressed like extras from the 1988 L.A. gang flick Colors walked Rodarte’s 2014 spring/summer runway. The Mulleavy sisters behind the brand are known for designs that tap into their childhood, though this look has yet to hit their hometown of Pasadena.

Neon lights are
bright for Degen

Valley Girl

Using a palette that recalled an exploded bag of Skittles, Lindsay Degen’s 2014 fall/winter line appears to have taken its cues from Valley kids who sneaked out to dance at the Odyssey. Degen, a knitwear designer, must be a fan of Martha Coolidge’s film.

Band of Outsiders

Band of Outsiders
joins the brat pack

Less Than Zero

Robert Downey Jr.’s troubled character, Julian, could have partied hard in this power suit (complete with mini shoulder pads) from the L.A.-based Band of Outsiders’s prefall 2014 collection. But the real blast from the past is the DeLorean on the sweater.
