In “
What Happened to Mitrice Richardson?,” which appears in the September issue of
Los Angeles magazine, writer Mike Kessler chronicles the circumstances surrounding Richardson’s death. The recent college graduate had been acting strangely in the months leading up to her arrest in Malibu for not paying a dinner tab. After being jailed briefly, the she was freed in middle of the night with no car, no ride, no phone, and no money. Her naked remains were discovered a year later in a remote canyon. Within days of our story breaking, the sheriff’s department tentatively agreed to settle with Richardson’s parents, who had sued the department over the way it handled their daughter. Watch as Kessler walks us through details of the story.
