Mission Statement

It was a harmonious mix of downtown suits and rock 'n' rollers at this year's 2009 Golden Heart Awards benefiting the Midnight Mission. The party at Beverly Hills Hotel honored Councilmember Jan Perry and Norman Harris of Norm's Rare Guitars for their support of the mission. Jan was instrumental in the mission's expansion, while Norm has staged three concerts to raise money for its upkeep. The room was filled with heavy hitters from the music industry, who were there to show their affection for Norm. Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi, Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (whose play-for-fun side project the Dirty Knobs performed), Ron Blair of TP&HB, Elliot Easton of the Cars, and Jeff Lynne of the Electric Light Orchestra were all on hand. Ed Begley Jr. served as master of ceremonies, and Dick Van Dyke and Fritz Coleman kept the evening moving along: "Whenever I see Ed Begley, I always feel guilty" observed DVD.
