In Historic Filipinotown, Alleyways Have Become Outdoor Art Galleries

Beautiful, colorful murals are hidden just around the corner

“L.A. is a hub for street artists,” says Gabba Gallery owner Jason Ostro. Their handiwork is everywhere you look, but it’s also in places you might not. Case in point: For his Alley Project, Ostro turned three alleyways in Historic Filipinotown and one in Echo Park into spaces for a string of dramatic murals.

 

“The thing I take most pride in is the community support,” he says. “This is something that has grown from the inside out.
