Tough As Nails: Rococo’s Holiday-Perfect Metallic Polish
In the great nail art debate, I often find myself caught between what’s brand new and what’s classic. The problem with fall’s elaborate trends is the daily maintenance required to keep those pebbly little diamante and doohickeys in place. Well, at least for lazy girls like me. Meanwhile, basic holiday reds and monochromatic plums lack pizazz, and who doesn’t want to have fun this time of year?
Rococo’s winter nail color launch, a stunning quartet of molten metallic shades, offers the perfect solution.
Anything with shimmer always makes me feel pretty, and there’s a lot of that in Rococo’s Lost in Space collection; the heavily pigmented nail lacquers ($16.50) are totally reminiscent of that ‘80s iridescent look—in a good way. With two, fast-drying coats you’ll get truly saturated color, thanks to inherent light diffusing properties within the product.
“Our metallics are different because the shades are based on color travel,” explained Rococo Nail Apparel founders Ange & Vernice Walker. “We played with ultra-fine light-reflective pigments that cover the entire color spectrum.” All Rococo nail lacquers are also free from Formaldehyde, Toluene and DBP.
Of the set, I like Radioactive (a highly reflective chartreuse hue) and the holographic Bad Robot (which has overlays of silvery pewter) best. Both were a great looking alternative to the neutral nails I normally wear to work—minus the fuss of other trying-too-hard trends.
