New Launch: Marc Jacobs Marvelous Mousse Transformative Foundation

Foundations are the trickiest product to test. There are too many variables to consider: the dubious color match, the second-skin texture, the coverage (you want it full but weightless and longlasting). But good news: Marc Jacobs’ newest spring launch—Marvelous Mousse Transformative Foundation ($55)—is an unassuming nude foundation of near-perfect buttery softness that melts easily into skin for a pore-free complexion.

It seems everything Marc Jacobs touches turns to gold, and his impressive debut into beauty is no different—his new foundation is already coveted by globetrotting makeup artists. Nestled in a chic, minimalist jar, this product is somewhere in between cream foundation (for medium coverage) and a fuller powder that wears more naturally. Not only did it conceal my age spots and pores flawlessly, but the non-greasy formula didn’t oxidize, which is often an issue for mid-tone foundations. Even when worn over a moisturizer and SPF, the impeccable satiny matte finish stays put well past a few hours without smearing.

Darker tones are available in so few designer lines that it becomes a chore for some of us olive/tan/honey-skinned beauties to shop for just the right shade. This gorgeously conscientious color spectrum—from ivory to warm cocoa—will offer great coverage to anyone who needs it.
