NYFW Highlight: Welcome to Hollywood

Local brand Band of Outsiders put L.A. on display

We’re always happy to see chic styles in new shapes that looks like they would just happen to be comfortable to wear, so L.A.-based fashion brand Band of Outsiders by designer Scott Sternberg had us at slouchy cool jumpsuit when his new women’s collection showed at New York Fashion Week over the weekend. But what really got our hearts racing was the show’s set, which prominently featured a recreation of the back of the Hollywood Sign, complete with a visual representation of L.A. traffic down below. The collection, which features pieces in silk crepe, parachute, nylon, and leather (you can see the entire line at Style.com), was inspired by Robert Altman’s 1973 film “The Long Goodbye,” but also references Sternberg’s frequent hikes in Griffith Park with Vogue editor Lisa Love, according to The Daily Beast. Embracing L.A. life and style without resorting to clichés: How fresh is that?
