Party Mix: A Roundup of Holiday-Ready Beauty Products That Last

Celebration tested and soiree approved, these products won't call it a night before you do

Fun, glam, shine, and long-lasting. So goes the criteria for what makes my December beauty product wish list. Like yours, my holiday calendar is filling up with seasonal soirees and end-of-the-year fetes. I certainly want the glitziest golds and the prettiest lips, but with so may parties and so little time to touch up,  what matters most is how long products last on my skin.

Right now is the best time to take stock of what works and what’s not worth applying, and these tried and true favorites are proven to last through low-key soirees, champagne-filled nights, and black tie bashes alike:

RCMA Color Process Foundation ($27)
The no-frills cream formula is comprised of nearly 50% pigment, which means you need less to get the look of more. Plus, it blends fantastically with any moisturizer or foundation thinner. I kept staring at the velvety finish, which is the closest thing you’ll get to an airbrushed look in less than 5 minutes, but without that tacky white face that shows up with flash photography.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream ($23)
Easy enough to use with your fingers (or a concealer brush), the deeply pigmented cream shadow doesn’t need a primer underneath. The #12 Golden Copper is the perfect fuss-free festive gold that you can wear on lids without worrying about creasing. The cream is also a multi-tasker; I dabbed some on the center of my lips and they looked Angelina Jolie full.

Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($19)
Whether you’re looking to darken just your lash line or going for a feline flick, this is an eye essential. The waterproof formula settles in quickly, so work fast. If you do, you won’t have to worry about the liner smudging onto your upper lid or flaking off hours later.

Mac Pro Longwear Blush ($25)
Blush is usually the first product to fade, but this brand’s Stay By Me shade bucks that trend. It brightens skin without making it look too rouged up, and gives a beautifully flushed pink that pairs well with fall’s neutral and vampy lips.

Ben Nye LP Series Lip Colour Pencil ($9.50)
I love how this pencil is nearly twice as long as most other brands, which comes in handy since pros say to always fill in both whole lips to prevent an unsightly dark ring around your mouth. At this bargain price, you can stock up the perfect nude and red for your skin tone; the brand offers plenty of options in both basics.

Sally Hansen Diamond Flash ($6.49)
During strappy sandal season, my pedicures need to last me at least two to three weeks between salon stops. This top coat has a perfect not-too-thick and not-too-thin consistency, which dries fast, leaves an ultra-shiny finish, and didn’t chip for almost seven days.
