Small Business Saturday: The Cure for Black Friday Blues
Didn't score big yesterday? Didn't leave the house at all? You still have a chance to cash in on deals— and support local shops— on Small Business Saturday today. This shopping discount day was founded in 2010 by American Express as an economic stimulator for mom-and-pop shops that were being overshadowed by big retail chains on Black Friday. You can find a list of 100 L.A. shops taking part in Small Business Saturday at shopsmall.com. But if you find that list is a little overwhelming, you can use the December issue of Los Angeles magazine (on newsstands now) to vet your choices.
Inside the issue you'll find our list of L.A.'s Best indie Shops—54 of our city's top local boutiques and emporiums— from the eastside (Pasadena, Downtown, Hollywood) to the westside (Venice, Santa Monica. Topanga) and the Valley to the South Bay. Rediscover old favorites or find new ones—either way you'll be giving back to your community while spoling yourself or your loved ones. It's win-win retail therapy.
