Los Angeles Magazine Staffers' Wish List Picks

You'll find 25 awesome last minute gift ideas— for everyone from the mountain man to the gal who's got it all— in the Decmeber issue of Los Angeles magazine (on newsstands now!). Inspired by the goodies on our glossy pages, we polled staffers, asking them to pick what they wanted most for the holidays— no matter how big or small. Here's what topped their wish lists:

theessentials_masa_t Google Glass
Eric Mercado, research editor

"I would love to see Google Glass under my Christmas tree. Have no idea if I'd use them beyond the first day, but playing with this geek accessory would be fun."

theessentials_masa_tDolce & Gabbana Lace Booties
Brooke Solovy
, intern
"I’ve been stalking these Dolce & Gabbana booties for some time now. The delicate lace makes them feminine but they still have an edgy vibe. They fit amazingly well around the foot and ankle!"

theessentials_masa_t Custom Shoes from Willie's
Chris Nichols
, associate editor
"Julie Newmar was the first person I heard swoon over this cobbler shop. Then two more folks told me about the joys of custom made shoes. They say it takes at least five visits to measure your feet properly, and that they keep the wooden molds in their shop forever."

theessentials_masa_t George Nakashima Dining Table
Daphne Tanyol, copy chief
"The table I have now needs to be replaced. So why not ask for one made by a master woodworker and a leading innovator of 20th-century furniture design?"

theessentials_masa_t Chanel Premiere Gem-Set Steel Watch
Julia St. Pierre, production director
"The luxury of a Chanel logo—with the simplicity of just the two hands, the diamonds around the face, and the weight of the link bracelet would make me feel like I'm wearing a beautiful piece of jewelry that happens to also tell time."

theessentials_masa_tFrancis Francis X1 Espresso Machine
Elina Shatkin, senior editor

"This is what I really want: a Francis Francis X1 espresso machine in red. It's a gorgeous piece of equipment with an awesome retro design; I would be proud to put it on my counter. It also makes a damn fine espresso. Unfortunately, it costs about $600, so I am looking for a used one on CraigsList or eBay."

theessentials_masa_tCarrara Marble-Top Kitchen Island
Leilah Bernstein, associate editor

"I have always wanted this in my kitchen—or one just like it, with handsome wood cabinetry underneath—for making candies and pastries and pizzas and more. It’s a gorgeous work surface, both visually and to the touch."

theessentials_masa_tBurton 'Day Trader' Snowboard
Annie Hong, senior art director

"I recently went snowboarding for the first time and loved it. I would love to get a snowboard so I can keep practicing. This one is nice."

theessentials_masa_t Tesla Model X
Matt Segal, executive editor
"An electric SUV that looks good (gull wing doors!) and moves fast? I'm in."

theessentials_masa_t ShopLUCA’s Nameplate Bracelet
Shayna Rose Arnold, Online Senior Editor
"I’m expecting my first child this winter, and while I don’t need a 'push present,' I wouldn’t be too disappointed to see this simply beautiful (and extremely affordable) nameplate bracelet, engraved with my son’s name on it, end up in my jewelry dish."

theessentials_masa_tTrip on a Virgin Galactic Flight
Linda Immediato,
senior editor
"Ok, I went real big here. If I was given the chance to pick one thing no matter the price tag, it would be a seat aboard a Virgin Galactic flight. And even though I know Sir Richard Branson's fleet of spacecrafts don't technically reach 'space' (they coast through Earth's sub-orbital layer), floating in zero gravity through Earth's thin blue line, would still be a dream come true."
